Just a little about me…
My name is Cheri S. Sims; I was born on October 31, 1979, originally in Bronx, NY where I was partially raised, then my parents moved us to Long Island where we lived within the closely-knit town of Brentwood. Currently my family and I are residing in the Sunshine State – Florida.
I am a proud stay at home mommy to 4 precious children, Chasiti (10), Atlantis (9), Jalen (7) & Jeslyn (5), also Wife to L. Scott Sims. I love spending quality time with my family; everyday is a new adventure within our household to say the least. The milestones have and continue to be joyous and the mixture of personalities is a world of enjoyment.
I am a very fun, loving, caring, outgoing, spontaneous kind of lady. I have always been very independent, which is also why I may have always had an eye for anything and everything crafty and do-it-yourself. I don’t think I was born to live in this world making others rich. Hence the birth of my 5th child: my passion for designing & creating handcrafted jewelry.
How it all began…
The emergence of TrulySterling all started by chance in November of 2005. One day while taking a trip to my local supermarket I inadvertently missed the entrance to the shopping plaza, so I pulled into the neighboring shopping plaza where a neon sign reading ‘BEADS’ caught my attention. Being the craft junkie that I have always been, curiosity got the best of me. I suddenly found myself window shopping through the storefront until I was compelled to walk in.
As I opened the door the sound of mistletoe bells could be heard overhead. I must have looked like a big kid in a candy store as I heard someone greet me with “Hi, is this your first time here?” I eagerly replied “YES”, and was immediately whisked off on a tour of the shop!
To my amazement all of the items displayed were all handmade jewelry, customized with various Glass Beads, Swarovski Crystals, Sterling Silver Components, Bead-able Pens, Key chains, Eye Glass Holders, ID Holders, Bookmarks and all things that SPARKLE & BLING. After realizing this I just had to know how it was all done.
I was told that there would be a class on beading basics within the next half hour so I immediately signed up. After taking the class I found that it was rather simple to design and create pieces of jewelry. The best part is - I was really enjoying it!
Pretty soon I found myself moving my husband’s clothes from one side of the closet to the other to make room for all of my jewelry making supplies. Initially jewelry making was just a hobby. Then I started to receive many compliments on the pieces I was wearing and being asked where did I buy them? When I mentioned that I made them myself, almost overnight I had a handful of people asking if I could design pieces for them. Fortunately this was around the Holiday Season, so word of mouth traveled fast for those needing last minute gift giving items. After that holiday season I decided to venture off into the world of jewelry making.
With that said we would like to welcome the newest addition to our family…

P.S. By the way I never did make it to the supermarket that day! |
